Section 8 Housing Programs

Welcome to Pennington County Housing's Section 8 Housing website! It is the goal of the Section 8 Housing programs to provide affordable, safe, decent and sanitary rental housing to our income eligible clients.

Section 8

Section 8 is a program that is federally funded through the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Section 8 is a rental subsidy that helps income eligible clients locate affordable, safe, decent and sanitary rental housing with the landlord of their choosing.

Shelter Plus Care

Shelter Plus Care is a program designed to help homeless individuals or families who are disabled locate affordable, safe, decent and sanitary rental housing with the landlord of their choosing. To qualify for the Shelter Plus Care Program you must be referred by a participating agency.

New Start Rental Assistance Program

The New Start Rental Assistance Program (NSRAP) is a program designed to help homeless individuals or families who are disabled locate affordable, safe, decent and sanitary rental housing with the landlord of their choosing. To qualify for the New Start Voucher Program you must be referred by a participating agency.

VASH Voucher Program

VASH Voucher Program is a program designed to help homeless veterans locate affordable, safe, decent and sanitary rental housing with the landlord of their choosing. To qualify for the VASH Voucher Program you must be referred by a participating agency.

Section 8 Homeownership

Thinking about purchasing your own home? Section 8 may be able to help. Once you have been on the Section 8 Program for one year, are in good standing with the program as well as your landlord and meet the income requirement you could qualify for the Section 8 Homeownership Program.
